Sotheby's Geneva

These watches that came up at Sotheby’s.

It is Daytona Ref.6239 with a Pulsometer, commonly known as ‘Doctor'. This is a very rare model, there are some variations on the face, this time the combination of the piece in this case is Red Daytona notation in 1.69 serial Ref.6239 case. It is said that even if placed in a pure gold case there are only 10 or less in total ‘Doctor’ indexed with a Pulsometer for the medical profession, and are expected to be bid for a high price this time.

And then Paul Newman Oyster Down appeared. With a 2.085 serial as predicted, there is little dirt on the in-Dial. However, a characteristic of Oyster Down or many Oyster Down is that many have been found to be dirty here. Of course, because the black Paul has a white in-Dial and black thick hand, there are situations where dirt is clearly visible due to the black hand hitting the dial, but it feels particularly a problem affecting many Oyster Down.

And unusually there’s a 3971 Tiffany. This classic font appears from time to time on 2499, but looks fresh on 3971/3970. It may be the first time that a 3900 series Tiffany has appeared at auction.
