εfini MS-8
It is a well-known fact that Mazda was taking on many design challenges at the time when it was developing the éfini brand, but the sedan MS-8 was quietly released in 1992. Of course, it's a car 30 years ago, so I can't hide its age, but I understand the intention of aiming for the appearance of a European car at that time. Aside from the texture of the interior, the dashboard was very futuristic.
The shape of the rear is very European. You can see that the catalog photos are also taken in that direction.
Column shift to the modeling of this dash and the bench seat without the center tunnel. At that time, we can see a fairly ambitious design challenge. Even if it is "mid-minded".
A unique atmosphere with thin headlights and a very small grill on this top and bottom. Even with modern Japanese cars, there may be few cars that look good on euro numbers like this. However, at that time, the Crown and Celsior, which were very pure Japanese, sold well. Éfini cars such as the MS-8 did not produce great sales results, and quietly closed the curtain on its history. Even so, Mazda's design strategy at that time gave birth to famous cars such as the Eunos Roadster and RX-7, so I think it made a lot of sense.
