5711 Tiffany 170th

To celebrate the 170-year alliance between Patek Philippe and Tiffany & Co., 170 Nautilus 5711 timepieces featuring a “Tiffany Blue” dial and stainless steel case are being produced. Patek will include one of these watches in the PHILLIPS auction in New York on December 11.

Who could have imagined such a turn of events. The old Patek Philippe would never have attempted this overt of a statement. They would likely have commented on how their brand had already reached its potential.

The PHILLIPS auction page can be seen here. Bidding will start at $50,000, but seeing as proceeds will go to a charity, it may sell for at least $1 million if not $2 million.

Look closely at the caseback, which features the inscription “LVMH.” After their acquisition of Tiffany & Co., LVMH may end up acquiring Patek Philippe as well.
