The main difference in design with the Ref.3970 is that Ref.5020 was only manufactured for about 5 years. At that time it was unpopular and referred to as the before ‘TV Screen’ but was popular among Patek dealers. I mean, people who have seen lots of unique shaped watches understand their charm.

That Ref.5020 platinum case significantly exceeded it’s estimate with a successful bid at Sotheby’s recently. Platinum Ref.5020 watches are few in number and wonder if they were in fact strong after all?
