EQS580 4matic +
The EQS finally officially announced. It is positioned as an S class as an electric vehicle, and it seems that Mercedes has released it with all its might. Until now, EQC and EQA have been models that have been tailored to electrification using the formats of existing gasoline models such as GLC and GLA. This EQS is the first model to adopt the new architecture "EVA" exclusively for electric vehicles, and it is very different from its origin.
There are two grades, "EQS 580 4Matic (523ps)" and "EQS 450 (333ps)". An electric powertrain called eATS is placed at the rear of the EQS450, and at the front in addition to the rear of the EQS580. 0-100km / h acceleration is 4.3 seconds. The launch model Edition 1 is a two-tone specification, and it creates a future classic feeling well. Starting with the separate painting in Maybach, Mercedes will effectively use two tones in many models in the future.
What is interesting is that when viewed from the side, the borderline of this painting is not straight, but once it is dropped on the front fender. Perhaps this wanted to inherit the atmosphere of the concept model. If the boundary line is straightened this time, the design will not interfere with the fender, so I think the original concept's separate painting line was particular about the design that straddles the fender. Certainly, when you look at the concept diagonally from behind, there is a certain beauty that the separate painting lines are sucked into the fender.
The basic model seems to be one tone, this is a simple image. The total length is 5,216m, which is about halfway between the S-class short and long, so with this roofline, there may be plenty of room for living space. There is no drive shaft either.
The total width is 1,926 mm, which is almost the same as the new S class. The total height of 1,512mm is slightly higher. Now that Rolls, Bentley and Range Rover are all close to 2,000mm in width, the size of 1,926mm may no longer be compact for this class. As already announced, the interior is equipped with a hyper monitor (a low-priced model of a normal LCD panel is also available), and this is pretty well organized. It has a cruising range of 770km and guarantees 70% of the battery's durability for 10 years or up to 250,000km. There is also a new mechanism called a comfort door that automatically opens when approaching 1.5m.
It will be released as a 2022 model, so it will be released later this year in Europe and North America. In Japan, it's early next spring and beyond. If the delay in infrastructure continues, I don't think Japan will be able to sell that many, so after all, for the time being, the main battlefields will be Europe, the United States and China.
