Gekotei

The white rice shop ‘Gekotei’
— although it's one-time master of master chefs has retired, I hadn’t noticed but he’s come out of retirement and now continues making excellent rice!
As I enter the shop, I pick up a tray, and see the spread laid out before me. Yet while I unsure what to have and unsure whether I am hungry or not, this time is really fun.
Buri (Yellowtail fish) teriyaki, pickles, and miso soup with freshwater clam. Any of these alone would go well with two servings of rice but on this particular day I found some shrimp tempura. ‘Kantodaki’ oden (stew) also looks good, which can be ordered at your table in place of rice.
The master recently demonstrated his boiled rice in China. Japan and Osaka prefecture should decide a supplementary budget so that the shop can remain!
