A5 Sportback G-Tron
Quietly unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the A5 Sportback G-Tron can be used with Audi’s new chemically synthesized ‘e-gas’. A turbocharger is installed in-line with a 2-litre 4-cylinder TFSI engine together with a tank capable of storing 19kg of compressed gas at 200bar pressure. Gas consumption is less than 4kg for every 100km travelled. And when low on gas, the system automatically switches to gasoline driving. Will this ever happen in Japan?
Even though Audi made leaps and bounds on the design side, there is the impression they weren’t able to go beyond that with a new design theme. Although this latest Sportback succeeds with a clean design, there is no denying it somehow retains the design concept. It is a little disappointing Volvo and Jaguar are the only ones really pushing design.
