For about 10 years from 2002, ‘Maybach’ had been produced and sold as an independent brand. Eventually profitable but was no longer fitted, and now only remains in name only as a luxury version of the current S-class.

Although difficult in terms of business, the design if seen today feels as if a lot of things about it had been quite ambitious. Especially these tail-lights linked together underneath are particularly impressive, and the rear view seems quite impressive. It’s clearly different from either Rolls Royce or Bentley so in this sense couldn’t the design be considered quite good after all?

Of course the interior was also to a very high standard, but think the design was intended to be a form of ‘simple luxury’ and in no way ornate.

Now it is something like this. Of course this will do well because the market it’s aimed toward is different.
