Orchidee

Richter's Orchid Edition hasn't been in a whilePHILLIPSIt was sold at 44,100 dollars (about 5.4 million yen), which was a high bid. It has been in the $ 20,000 range for the last 10 years, but has it become higher here?

The original, of course, was written in 1997 and is oil-on-aluminum (oil painting on an aluminum canvas), size 29 x 37 cm. It was drawn when Richter was 65 years old and has a great degree of perfection.

It's an edition work, but there are actually five types, and the size and trimming are slightly different. First of all, I and II have no margins and are finished with acrylic crimping from the top of the offset print. And Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ are framed type with margin. The number of editions is also disjointed, with 17 for the few and 25 for the many, all totaling 104.

Personally, I like the acrylic crimp type with no margins because it has a high-class feel. The abstract poster edition is gaining popularity these days, but that type has no autograph and is like a poster officially recognized by the writer. Rather than that, the original works cannot be bought at museum-grade prices, and since they are official Edition works with proper signatures, I think they will be interesting in the future.
