Daytona fever

Although the interest in Daytona does not show any sign of weakening at all, recent trends are few.

First of all, the normal black dial of Ref.6263 are generally shooting up in price. Of course theres the Mk 1 and Sigma, but it’s unusually high by Big Red standards. If you buy one from now on, it’s due to the condition. the major principle being that the bezel and the pusher match the serial number. The price of parts such as the Mk1 bezel has become awesome recently, and almost no part can be bought even if you pay for parts alone. Since the manufacturing period is long, it is easy to match The Big Red parts with the period they were made, so it’s likely them seem way too expensive to buy if you think how many there are.

If the normal dial rises in price at any time, the Paul system basically goes up in tandem too. However, perhaps it is better to say there’s a short time between normal system Ref.6263 and non-Oyster PN if your talking about right this very moment. For example, if red PN Ref.6241 are 250 karat, and Ref.6263 with normal burring are 180 karat, the feel on the skin of the traditional collector would perhaps give a slight feeling of cheapness to the Paul. But, perhaps this relationship will normalize in the future. Also the number of early Ref.6263 serial numbers was original small. So maybe the trend is leaning towards value, even with normal system Oyster.

However, when it comes to price in the end, the question “what model do you really want?” becomes more important.
