When it comes to collaboration, it is a chance for different creative minds to come together and create something with their signature style. To me, the individual and unpredictable creativity of each mash-up is what makes collaborations beautiful and it is also this process of innovation that I enjoyed most.

コラボレーションとは、異なるクリエイティブなマインドたちが出会い、互いのシグネチャースタイルを持ち合わせたものを生み出すチャンスです。そして僕が思うに、その独創性や予期しなかった化学反応が、コラボレーションというものの魅力であり、僕はいつもそのイノベーションのプロセスをとても楽しみにしています。

Amongst the collaborations we have worked with in the past, HYPEBEAST x Dr. Martens 5-Eye Brogue in 2011, is one of the earliest, and perhaps the most memorable collaboration to me.

これまで僕らが行ってきたコラボレーションの中で、2011年に行ったHYPEBEAST x Dr. Martens 5-Eey ブローグシューズはその中でも極めて初期の、そしておそらく僕にとって一番印象深いコラボレーションだったのではないかと思います。

3989 5-Eye Brogue is a classic from the Dr. Martens archive. We went forth with an entirely tonal black colorway which boasts a classic DSP outsole. Adding to that, we had the broguing embossed onto the shoes instead of the usual leather layers. Together with the design and the material choice of tan leather, this collaboration has given the 5-eye brogue a touch of subtle but timeless class to its’ name. It was a refined work on a classic model, and opened the brand to more diverse and out-of-the-box styles.

5-EeyブローグシューズはDr. Martensのクラシックなモデルです。僕らはこのモデル全体を漆黒にすることでクラシックなDSPアウトソールを際立たせました。また、アッパーには通常モデルのようにレザーを重ねる代わりに、ブローグのエンボスのみで仕上げています。このデザインとタンレザーという素材のチョイスによって、このコラボレーションは5-Eeyブローグシューズにささやかながらタイムレスな品格を、その名前に加えられたと思っています。クラシックモデルを洗練させ、ブランドに、枠にとらわれないスタイルや可能性を提案できた仕事だと思います。
