When I travel abroad, I have to find out local information from friends who either visit regularly or have lived there—more important than any guide book. A Mexican shop was mentioned more than once, as the place to eat Portland’s best taco.
When I went, the dining room appeared to be inside a Mexican supermarket. Alcohol is no good, which cant be helped, so ordered a full-flavoured Mexican juice instead. The taco itself came without much seasoning but seemed as if you added this yourself with salsa and sauces. Ingredients are very honest and very tasty. I wonder why American vegetables are said to be tasty like this. Since when?
Over during, I was exposed to considerable looks of curiosity. I guess someone Asian rarely comes, let alone anyone Japanese. (laugh)
