Umimachidon

The other day, I had some business over in Sangenjaya. I searched for something to eat on the way home but had no idea where to go. I then found a ‘geki-sema-ten’ (super narrow store) that was on TV opposite the now familiar Starbucks. A kaisen donburi (a bowl of seafood on rice) .
Shop full with just 6 people inside.
There is a little twist though. First of all a sushi vinegar ‘jelly’ is added to the rice sushi-style which gives it an ‘odd taste’— a word I don’t like using that much (laugh). On top of that, I ask for some soup stock to pour over and make ‘ochazuke’ (you have to add a little more rice if theres not enough left). Refilled three times is perfect.
If over this way in Sakurashinmachi, people in the know will send you in the direction of a series of ‘Kandaya’ sushi restaurants worth visiting. During the daytime they serve ‘kaisen donburi’ that honestly speaking is not that cheap but pretty good value and makes for quite an enjoyable lunch.
