The well-known restaurant ‘Sasurai’ is found within Sangenjaya’s the so-called ‘triangle’, known to local connoisseurs as the triangle of good dining. It is known and admired for stocking the line of famous Chu-hai soda sparking drink ‘Touin’.​ ​
​ ​The ‘Sasurai 94 Special Standing Spring Banquet’ event was held the other day (9 meaning Kyushu, 4 meaning Shikoku). An event where connoisseurs and locals alike gather and enjoy local cooking and a drink from Sasurai.
To put it simply, this was an undertaking by Michiharu Shimoda from Silent Poets and Seiji Big Bird from Little Tempo, yet Shimada’s handmade ‘game-ni’ (simmering pot of chicken, vegetables, and whatever else there is …) was way too delicious. Without loosing the personality of each ingredient, they were blended together like home cooking to refine the taste. I had a strange admiration for someone with such a good sense of cooking they made the dish their own.
