prague
I travelled around Eastern Europe by car.
Before the unification of EU, countries had their own border, and even though you could end up being stuck for up to 3 hours, you could still cross borders without having to check your passport. The European immigration stamp included a vehicle icon on the upper right hand side; a plane when flying, a train when travelling by rail, and so on. My last passport was covered in car icons.
Now it’s possible to travel back and forth without ever having to show a passport. Though I’m relived, the whole event has became slightly trivial.
Anyhow, leaving Germany by car and traveling to Switzerland, Prague is always the first place I visit.
What’s good to see? I love this town. I’m sure everyone visiting loves the Charles Bridge.
If you go to any town in Eastern Europe you should definitely arrive after dark. Especially between autumn and winter. Seen in cold weather, the illuminated stone buildings are wonderful.
This time I asked a friend staying in Prague for the first time to briefly walk me through the city.
We walked around the old quarter but I couldn’t remember much apart from the Jewish graveyard and museum which I had seen several times before. The town is full of places that still need to be seen.
Think I’ll come back next year when it’s cold again.
