PHILLIPS Geneva 5

Unveiled as the highlight of May’s auction in Geneva, but as rumor has it three appeared. This is a stunning line-up.

First of all, it was said previously that even for Ref.6263 pure gold Oyster PN, “such a model doesn’t exist”. Well, one finally turned up. Currently there are thought to be only three in existence, and this is one of them. Naturally the colour scheme is white graphics on ‘lemon’.

Estimate: CHF 800,000 - 1,600,000

This is followed by a pure gold Ref.6241 ‘Tiffany’ John Player Special. It is the genuine article, and furthermore, in amazing condition.

And then, Ref.6238 pure gold pre-Daytona with black mirror dial.

6238 The Pre-Daytona Chronograph with Black Galvanic Dial: An extremely rare and highly attractive 14 k yellow gold Rolex chronograph wristwatch with black galvanic dial and bracelet, reference 6238, circa 1967.

Estimate: CHF 250,000 - 500,000.

Looking at the current line-up, as I would expect they make an appearance in the watch category of Phillips auction house.

Even so, being set up with a gold case as well is very timely. Which I think will cause the price of Daytona as a whole to go up at this auction.
