I changed speakers connected to my desktop Mac Pro to Yamaha’s NX-N500.
It supports optical connection, a network from the classic NS-10M and MSP10 with monitor speakers and DAW while producing music and almost all connections like as USB, and smartphone control, making it an almost ideal modern powered speaker.
On top of that, equipped with a high-grade USB DAC function, it surpasses the PCM 384 kHz / 32 bit optical input when connected to a Mac by USB, so there’s no need for a separate hi-res amp!
So I've removed all the optical connections with the digital mixer and changed them to USB with the Mac.
Although middle aged, if the insulator is fitted the sound quality produced is pretty good, even though the bass sounds kind of thin.
