「Ima chan no jitsu ha

A night out in Kobe.
I’ve become addicted to ‘Shi Jia Cai‘ which has just appeared on the local Kansai programme「Ima chan no jitsu ha
Staff asked if I had the appetizer set and wanted yodaredori (spicy steamed chicken) the set comes with steamed chicken and they could swap them over.
I chose the kūshinsai (water spinach) and Chinese broccoli from the list of recommended ingredients of the day with the suggestion of which I would like stir-fried together with meat. Meat is also chosen from the recommended menu. I ask for tender Tajima beef harami. Every dish is just as good as the last leaving you feeling like you’ve eaten really well.
And this season’s Shanghai crab is a real treat. Luckily it’s in-stock when I visit. And the taste is beyond words.
The final course is cha-han fried rice with karasumi (salted mullet fish eggs). Soup is poured over the middle out, Ochazuke-style. Hmm, it’s not what you would call soft and fluffy cha-han, more oily and moist but the oil itself is quite delicious. This is great for lunch. I’m going to try and come back.
According to locals, this area with a shop like this is known as ‘Hunter Street’, and there’s said to be quite a few other well-known shops there as well. Kobe really is deep …
