Soup Curry GARAKU

Soup curry from Sapporo.
I went to ‘Garaku’, one of the many shops that are considered the best.
Since it’s a weekday, a really long queue is always expected. Moreover, it’s mostly Korean. Speaking of which, the Chinese also really stand out in the city. The street scene feels as if it’s changed compared with Sapporo a few years ago.
I line up outside for roughly 40 minutes and thought I had finally made it inside only to then wait on a bench a little longer to be seating and then order. To eat curry inside takes around an hour and a half. Argh … waiting this long is a real stretch.
Well, as you’d expect the curry certainly is delicious. A basic yawaraka chikinreggu to yasai (soft chicken leg with vegetables) is topped with okra and very spicy (Level 5). Even Dashi curry is becoming a major trend in Osaka. Deliciously hot and thick, it’s bound to be just as popular.
I bought a pack of the retort curry being sold at the cashier seeing as I don’t come here that often. This is also sold at the airport so will add it to a future gift list.
