You can’t mention Helsinki without mentioning Alvar Alto.
Among his buildings,​ ​Finlandia Hall is​ ​one of my favourites.
As they had something happening in this hall on this particular day didn’t go inside, instead I took a break in the cafe.
The location of outdoor lighting also changes the design as well. Lighting comes with a seagull motif the closer it gets to the bay.
The last time I came they were renovating the outer wall, and though filled with used tiles, was able to discover an arabic motif among them.
I love the high level of humane design in harmony with nature.
