Tachinomi-ya ‘Tanaka’

Theres a well-established shop on the Uonotana Shotengai (Shopping street) in Akashi City.
When I saw that Snack Urban’s Mama (owner) had gone, I made up my mind to visit.
I mean, I though I was just going to Kobe for a business meeting.

‘Tanaka-ya’
A standing bar run by the shop selling alcohol, where you can drink from lunch time.
You stoop down as you enter through the sliding door. A complete hideout.

It was full even though it was still 5pm in the afternoon.
I somehow managed to find a counter stool, and ordered a beer to start with.
Draft Wheat beer.

A variety of dishes are on the counter.
Yellowtail Teriyaki is right in front of me, catching my eye. I must ask for this.

The Potato Salad is the best I’ve ever had.
Whether the taste between the soft potato and potato skin mean’t they were new potatoes, it has a unique dense taste.

I want to conquer the entire menu.

Conger Eel was baked in herbs instead of being boiled.
So tasty. This doesn’t taste like your usual local standing bar.

This is also the best Chikuwa-no-Isobe-age (deep-fried fish sticks) I’ve ever had.
In the first place the Chikuwa is perfect fresh. Probably, it is what was made on the way to the store.
You will want to order over and over again, and bear the pain.

The boiled sardines with plums is warming.
This is also excellent.
No … this place is just too good. The best restaurant of February, and maybe 2016.
I want to check out this shopping area some more, so will go again next month.
