Phillips NY
So about the PHILLIPS New York Watch Sale that includes a 5711 Tiffany & Co. watch - this is quite a lineup of watches. The first six lots are all Nautilus models. The first three 5711 pieces are all surprisingly brand new, which makes things interesting. This sale shows us just how much they want to exalt the value of the Nautilus series.
First up is the third JPS this autumn/winter season. The reference 6241 this time has a case number starting with 1,9 and includes a bracelet. The dial is in wonderful condition, so if this piece fetches $1.5 million, it could up the JPS market price quite a bit.
Next we have a gold Paul Newman model. This 14K 6241 champagne model’s case number begins with 2,0. This case with the number 2,084,231 was manufactured close together with other gold Paul Newman dials, making for an ideal case. The value of champagne dials is still underrated compared to JPS and Lemon models, but we should stay expectant about this one.
And now for the first 6239 Doctor we’ve seen in a while. It even includes the pulsations cherry logo. It’s fitted with a rare black chronograph hand for easy visibility, which is paramount when taking a pulse. The collector is from Texas, and it’s interesting that this piece would be hiding in such a place.
Next is the 6262 Panda dial. The Paul Newman 6263 sold for a hefty amount, so a lot of people are probably after a non-oyster sotto dial, but the 6264 with a plastic bezel now goes for a lot as well, so people are aiming to get the 6262. Just having a stainless steel bezel brings the price down by more than $100,000. The bezel is of course important, but we have a feeling the price gap will lessen in the future.
