Portrait of Daytona

Here are some new photos of Daytona taken by Pucci Papaleo, one of Daytona's world authorities. Even so, the level is still different from the photos in other books. Some of the individuals being photographed are carefully selected, but the photography technique is wonderful. I think there is nothing better than their team if you let them shoot a vintage Rolex.

Like vintage cars such as Miura, watches that are more than 50 years old must compete in the same market as modern ultra-luxury watches. Modern luxury watches are more advantageous in terms of perfection and luxury as a product, so to convey the charm of vintage, show a good individual with just one photo and feel the real value to many people. I think it's important to get it.

However, looking at these photographs again, from a design standpoint, it must be said that the golden age of watches was the 1950s and 1960s. Especially in ROLEX, the basic design of all sports models such as Submariner, GMT, Explorer was completed (and in almost perfect form from the beginning) in the 1950s, and from the appearance of Daytona in 1963 to Paul Newman is golden. It is no exaggeration to say that it is an era.

Unlike automobiles, watches do not have major legal restrictions (although there are some in luminous paints), so if you want to make the same thing as before, you should be able to make it, but market demands, durability, trends After all, I don't think it can be done, considering the feeling.

In the history of wristwatches, the hand-wound Daytona may be said to have been a miracle of the 1960s that combined the condensed feeling created by this sense of size with a unique design.
