Daytona
In the process of turning Daytona from manual winding 6263 to 16520 LN through 16520, I think the biggest difference is obviously the sense of size. I often hear voices saying, "Today Daytona is too big and useless." But look closely. In fact, the size of the dial itself has hardly changed.
As you can see from this picture, it is clear that the bezel is obviously huge, the thickness and weight, the width of the breath and the thickness of the case itself are obviously huge, but the dial size is not much changed Not. The evidence shows that the 11650LN has a small proportion of the dial to the whole volume. Conversely, for the 6263, the face (diameter) looks large for the body with a thin line.
In other words, the daytona has the same dial size as the new generation, but the real thing is that the surroundings (case, bezel, and breath) have grown steadily. Let's say that we're totally boned. Of course, there is a reason for ROLEX. Large watches have become a trend, and sizes have been increased to increase durability and robustness. Larger ones are also advantageous in terms of so-called product power.
However, for this reason, the 6263 feels like a special size if you look at it right now. Let's say the smallness, lightness, and fineness of the line that modern watches cannot. I think it's exactly why vintage lovers like us always stick to 6263.
Of course, when people love old things, there is always nostalgia. In other words, it is a feeling that you can easily see it just by saying “old”. Daytona is not without it. However, I think that there is a clear reason why many watch lovers love 6263.
