Schädel
It seems that the first work where Richter painted a skull goes on public show for the first time in 30 years. It also goes to auction. This work is a 1983 canvas work, and is being made public this time since being exhibited at Fred Jahn Gallery in Munich in 1988. It is at London’s Christie’s in October.
Here is the work.
Gerhard Richter, Schädel (Skull),1983, 80 x 65 cm, Oil on canvas
However, the exhibition this time is amazing. Although there are only 9 pieces, 8 of them are representative works and 1 is abstract. It seems that such works have been sold elsewhere. You could say the past 30 years have been in certain a sense so startling.
