Tanterufuji
‘Tanterufuji’ is where I’d meet old Fukuoka friends
It was once a branch of the famous motsu restaurant, ‘Harukichi’. I had wondered why a tail and tongue place in Fukuoka, but really, why here? There are delicious sushi restaurants nearby and is an area worth keeping an eye on.
On the whole we order su-motsu (pickled offal) in yakitori places and izakaya. It’s the first time I’ve had motsu this sophisticated (laugh). Whether sophisticated or not, motsu with a meaty flavour is always enjoyable. We’re off to a good start.
Sagari also looks really posh (though that’s a really crude and unsophisticated way of saying. Laugh) Only the part that is cooked to perfection rare is removed from if a large piece of meat is grilled.
The roast tail on the menu board is brilliant for a side dish. Gyoza are good too. You’ll want to have the yakimeshi (fried rice) if you come here.
Everything here seems very ‘Fukuoka’ but in a sense remains unique. This place is really impressive and the food is exquisite.
Nakae-san seems to like it too.
