Blaster

This blaster was the prop Harrison Ford was using in the film Blade Runner. The blaster was actually used during filming, and went to auction in 2009.

This is commonly referred to as a ‘hero prop’, produced by Terry Lewis and based on the Steyr-Mannlicher SL rifle. It was made using real gun parts, such as the trigger element and the magazine under the barrel. There is a big difference in texture between parts used from the actual gun and parts newly-made from aluminum as props, with the colour of the gun clearly divided into two-tones of gun metal and black steel. Decorative features like firing and warning lights are built-in, and warning switches are attached to the right side face of the gun. These are only the left side probably to avoid them appearing in-frame during the film.

In addition to this, a stunt prop used by ordinary police officers in the film also existed with a black grip.
