Todd Terry: a day in the life / black riot

In the late 1980s, hiphop and house began to mix slightly.
A continuation of House in the UK known for it’s inventiveness, it was christened Acid and went on to form the massive cultural shift known as Rave.
Around that time, in roughly 1988, I took a bus from London to somewhere on the outskirts DJing.
When I arrived what looked like livestock in a field were in fact lots of young people hanging out. I don't know if the word Rave existed back then but it definitely a party of one kind or another. Something I remember as being like the Magical Mystery Tour.

Well, one song that really stood out back then was this.
Up until then the main drum machines were the 808 and 909 but this song was LoFi, and sampled sound roughly.
It felt like the introduction of something completely new.

Needless to say, Todd Terry was massively successful after that.
