A Taste of Honey
In the late ‘70s, I heard both punk/new wave and disco/soul. Those days, with music and fashion more categorised, I thought it looked really bad saying something like “I love punk and listen to soul wearing a ‘Destroy’ t-shirt”. But come to think of it, this may just have been something normal. Whenever I remember punk, I always seem to settle on something like disco, which comes to mind.
Like this for example …
“A Taste of Honey” — the most popular song at that time maybe?
I liked the next album, and this song …
“Do it Good” — I went with this song and really loved listening to the album.
When I DJ’ed this song was well-played.
“Rescue me” — With this song, I knew phrase from the TLC song.
A classic cover version that was also a hit.
This feels oriental, with the slight ‘Cosplay’.
Far from the original, an already beautiful broken hearted love song, why give it the ‘Sukiyaki’ subtitle …
Thats bad orientalism (laugh)
