RCO Mk1 Tropical

t is likely that a brown RCO Paul Newman will be exhibited at Philips in Geneva this May. Indeed the black part has turned slightly brown, and more than likely to be the only brown MK1 RCO in the world. Personally I prefer if it had stayed the original colour.

As for the dial, it is a MK1 OysterDown, with bezel and pusher also MK1.

The PN Daytona OYSTER case is basically a white dial but in settings only (the minute track is white) and said to known as Panda. OYSTER notation exists as an exception as a third type referred to as RCO or OysterDown.

The dial in the OysterDown is essentially from Ref.6263 and also said to be part of Ref.6240. But with this part still full of ambiguous elements, I wonder, depending on their attitude, would it do well at auction houses described as such?

Here are two images of the white PN and black RCO PN Ref. 6263. The difference between the positions of OYSTERS is well known. As you and see looking at this photo, the individual perfect detailing in this OYSTER PN is really beautiful.
