Journey Under the Midnight Sun

Deciding on the what state best suits a piece of work will change depending on whether it was first seen as either a novel, or a piece of fiction drama and movie. For me this is absolutely a novel.

After all, the heart of this work is the fact that “theres no scene were Yukiho and Ryoji meet, not even once”. It’s this which was the single most important part of the piece. Of course the two would have met but right up until the very end there is no scene where they do.

But this could be judged as not being entertaining enough if simply visualised on screen. So in the drama-version, the two meet all the time. For those that have read the novel before, this may prove difficult to accept. Ryoji however looked very indecisive when compared with the original, and the sense of romantic drama was very powerful.

On the other hand, if someone had seen the drama beforehand, then I would think “Journey Under the Midnight Sun” was the kind of thing for them. The drama in itself was also very well made.

I think it this kind of work that will change considerably if experienced beforehand, depending on the person.

In any case, it’s a great piece of work.
