I wonder if it’s about 10 years since I gave up DJ-ing. Since then, I’ve not bought a record and not touched the turntable, so don’t listen to much ‘dance music’.

So what kind of thing are recent remixes used for?

I received an invitation to participate this time in the BLUE HEARTS Remix album. As it happens, it’s my first remix in roughly 10 or 20 years. Well, I can’t do this kind of thing anymore, I can only ‘feel’ it as I’ve been at a standstill ever since stopping.

I listen through the entire album, writing honestly about the sound. It’s a personal opinion.

This kind of latest remix doesn’t feel interesting at all. I’m very far away from familiar territory. It’s seemed pretty routine 30 years ago but now it all seems different. Does everyone really like the feeling and direction this music takes? I knew that I was going in a little bit of a different direction from pop music at the beginning, but would there a point where the two could intersect, I wondered? As it happened, not at all (laugh)

Out of all the entire album, my remix is probably the least successful piece there (laugh)
