■ Marble printing can only be done at a single factory in Kyoto

Designer Maiko Kurogouchi explored various ways to express shadow motifs before starting to make her fabrics. Her fascination with shadows created through window blinds has been shaped into one-of-a-kind products by Japanese traditional techniques and artisans. Among them, the colorful and psychedelic marble print patterns reflect the theme of this season's collection, with shades of light and shadow changing from sunset hues to moonlight, the warmth of the body dissolving into the darkness of the night, and bent shadows cast through the blinds. This particular technique can only be achieved at one factory in Kyoto. They create the patterns by hand, which are then printed on shirts and dresses. This season, her collection also includes sunglasses for the first time.
