New Infection (Shin Kansen)
I had tea with a friend after watching 'One Cut of the Dead’ (Kamera wo tomeru na!). A foreigner was there as well.
When asked "Is it a Japanese zombie movie?" but since it was difficult to explain briefly but totally different, "Well, sort of like that", the conversation turned as he said “You've seen the Korean zombie movie ‘Train to Busan’?”. That's right, I have heard of that film, I wanted to watch it. But I thought it wasn't released in Japan. It seems like it was released under the title ‘Shin Kansen (New Infection)’. Eh, ‘New Infection’? . Since this is set on a Korean-style Shinkansen train, maybe someone came up with the idea "Oh, Shinkansen? Shin … Kansen? This is a really good title!" But it's way too terrible. Lol.
Although it is the worst title movie, it was really interesting. Clearly it is a film heavily borrowing from ‘World War Z’, but it is done very well. It’s Korean, in a good way. I thought there was no way this was a film made in Japan. Of course Japanese films has their own merits, but what are they? Something different, like they feel expensive or powerful perhaps? Korean film feels extreme and like Hollywood. They are completely different from Japan and feel more focused on blockbusters.
