Hito monogatari, "The Young People defending Kyōdai ‘Tatekan’ Signboards"
When I came back from Kyoto and turned on the TV at home, the Kyoto University 'Tatekan' documentary was on.
Actually I do not mean that I wholeheartedly love the graffiti. Because I’m curious about drawn to the things they drew.
It seems that removal of the Kyoto University ‘Tatekan’ signboards is also due to regulations on to visual landscape of the city.
There are many delicious curry shops in that area and I have been there many times, but honestly didn’t think it was interesting in that direction.
And even watching this programme it will never be wiped away and think Tatekan is a form of free expression given to students, but wonder whether or not it's one of the elements that make up the Kyoto landscape.
Because of the landscape, signage is interesting because it’s so strange, and have never considered the strange coloured signage of convenience stores and fast food restaurants in Kyoto to be beautiful.
Since it is not a place visited by that many tourists like, for instance, Kyoto University, on the contrary, I think it’s also good for them to be seen. It feels like it would mean the death of the city getting rid of such 'indivisible things'.
It seems like there are two more after this programme. I’ll try and watch as they seem interesting.
