iPhone 8

IMG - 6179

iPhone X is causing quite a stir, but for the time being I’ve upgraded to an iPhone 8 for now.
So, the iPhone 8 arrived quickly and mentioned the ‘au’ SIM card I have is used with an iPhone7 …
but it doesn’t connect at all. It’s completely useless.
Yet it connects as normal when used with an iPhone 7 Plus with docomo. What does that mean?
Apparently the ‘au’ SIM is not VoLTE-dedicated and cannot be used with 8 or 8 Plus.
Excuse for a moment, but really … ?
Apparently you need to exchange SIM cards at an ‘au’ shop (with an admin fee of about ¥3,000) I asked staff if it was possible to post because going there is really inconvenient … the first thing they said was I need to change models …

I have absolutely no idea what that means. I already have a contract with ‘au’.
I found time and went to the shop because it was so unclear.
However, I was disappointed with ‘au’. Customers aren’t told beforehand, and the information they have is far from clear.
There is no point in paying such expensive charges when they make the service so inconvenient.
Fortunately, the device is SIM-free, so maybe it’s time to switch carriers to something like IIJ?
