‘After Hitler’,

The war itself is terrifying but the postwar period was bad as well.
I watched this programme thinking, ‘is this really what happened?’ without ever knowing what really took place.
I sincerely wish the world was rid of war.

‘After Hitler’

Germany just after the end of the Second World War the demonic Hitler dies. It is a two part documentary that depicts reconstruction with rare never seen before with rare images in colour of a Europe torn apart by destruction and despair.

The first part begins right after Germany’s defeat in 1945. Towns have been destroyed and are overflowing with orphans, and many of the men have died in battle or become prisoners of war, with women clearing away the debris. Crime is rampant, with very little food, clothing or everyday items being given out. Stoning and public executions continued for years in revenge for the Germans who had committed genocide, and the mass migration of Jews also begins. The recolored archive film realistically depicts the everyday hell that continued well after the war had finished.
