I’ve already mentioned how much of a battleground Kyoto curry is, but I’ve also noticed that the standard of karaage is quite high too recently.​ ​Horikawa Bird Rock​ ​was also covered recently. Karaage from famous restaurant ‘Akagakiya’ is straightforward and the taste of old Kyoto. And the flavour here at​ ​‘Vulcan’​ ​is also superb.
I have beer with a selection of spicy side dishes and gyoza. Chūhai (shōchū highball) is also pretty good.
The area is peaceful and a bit away from the noise along Kawaramachi Street.
