I am watching ‘Document 72 hours​
Although it’s New Year’s Day, I’m watching the annual 5 and-a-half hour long ’Asamade dokyumento 72-jikan (Document 72 Hours until dawn)’ I recorded all at once, featuring 10 of the best episodes from last year as decided by viewers.
A compilation of ordinary everyday life, if anything it focuses on misfortune. Not exactly the New Year spirit (laugh) With this program it somehow works but the concept would feel not but exploitative with another programme.
It’s hard to decide which is best, but the one’s that stood out as excellent were the familiar​ ​Nakasu part of Hakata​ ​​ ​and the​ ​Fukui ice shop.​ ​Hardly anything happens in the latter episode but the way it draws out the atmosphere in that part of town is great.
Since I’ve missed quite a few episodes, I can’t wait to catch up with the rest of the best.
