Before the Yoshida exhibition I have lunch in Iwamotochō and have always wanted to go to ‘Curry no Toriko’.
I go for the Japanese curry with the recommended Chicken on top. Hot is level 5. You’re asked if you want to make a stamp card, and from the card it looks like there are more than 11 levels to choose from. So like a regular-looking customer I order level 15.
The dish feels well-filled with plenty of chicken. The store must have Ulfuls songs playing permanently on repeat. From the look of it curry certainly feels as if it comes from Kansai, but this proper Indian curry from Tokyo is more than enough. I’m also glad a shop like this comes ready quipped with Fukujinzuke pickles. They go really well together.
I come here whenever I have business this side of town.
