Zagreb

I always think they’ll never be another opportunity to come again, but usually come back.

It same was true the first time I went aboard. When 18 as I took photos from the window of the airplane flying over Russia I thought it was maybe the last trip abroad for me. When they were developed I was surprised how many photos there were of clouds.

It’s maybe 10 years since the last trip to Zagreb, and my third visit this time.

So am coming to this city again.

It’s changed a lot. 10 years ago there was nothing. Streets in the old Communist era were filled with young people.

But, given directions like “when you go this way, that building is …” the main area hasn’t changed at all.

We also arrived late at night and departed the next day before noon, staying less than a day. There may be a few people wondering “what are we going to see when we stay so briefly? Is there a reason for going?” But there is a reason for going all that way. It clearly exists just by walking for 30 minutes or even an hour. This may not be the best way to explain but it’s true the best way is “to experience for real and not simply through images” as looking online and at magazines is definitely something different. Of course, if we were to stay for longer, we’d be able to bring back more information with greater depth, but I’ll leave that to the experts. There are books and the internet to enjoy for that.

In no time at all, it may only be superficial but it’s possible to see as much as you can. And then move on to the next town. There are all sorts of things that I’m curious about and want to find out. I will check myself when I get home.

I continue taking trips like this on a regularly basis.

I don’t remember but it seems like I’ve stayed in this hotel before—“Welcome back Mr. Fujiwara”. Zagreb is a good city.
