Ikari (Anger)
I thought I wouldn’t bother going to watch at the cinema but since it was relatively well received all around I made up my mind to go there and watch it.
It was definitely a good film. And in the end an accomplished adaptation of the novel for the big screen.
Episodes are deliberately stripped down with imagery that’s deliberately repetitive. The film is unique, with images that give life to cinema.
But as someone that hasn’t read the original story, aspects were interesting such as the actress who plays Yuma’s sister-in-law … When I began reading I imagined Jun Kunimura and Kanako Yanagihara were father and daughter (the Maki family) or that Izumi was Yuina Kuroshima.
Writing seemed to keep going without giving away the ending as the original was probably serialized. And then all of a sudden, the ending was revealed! It was attractive and interesting to gradually realize what had happened. Along with the pleasure of reading the written word.
