Could this be the ‘Prince Generation’?
When ‘Purple Rain’ came out I just happened to be in New York and everyone went to see it. To be honest, I was only there shopping and didn’t see but it did have a lot of good songs. Even well after DJ-ing, I would listen to old mixtapes containing the odd Prince song here and there. Along with people on his periphery, like The Time, or even Apollonia 6.

And this person, who can really play the guitar. The guitar sound is ‘electric’, but the ‘acoustic’, or even ‘Jazz’ sound is really good as well.

This disco/club ‘Time’ song was also a really big craze.
