Chris & Cosey / Technø Primitiv

This single solid piece was born from a process used to make loud and catchy music, when ‘Techno’ and ‘New wave’ were coming into their own in 1985.
The techno sense that Chris & Cosey of ‘Throbbing Gristle‘ came with raised the techno ‘crown’ and certainly felt as if it was coming from an entirely different direction, which makes me think about it all over again.

Without turning over their relatively cheap equipment, they kept using digital reverb by somehow sampling a drum machine from a PCM (pulse coded module sound source), all with a wild obsessiveness not at all academic and absolutely brilliant.
On cassette, it sounded really good listening with monitor speakers from the multi-track recording.
