こんにちは。Hypebeast ファウンダーのケヴィンです。若い頃からスニカーファンだった僕は、そのスニーカーのおかげで今の仕事をしているようなもの。ということで僕のRing of Colour初めての投稿は、原点とも言えるスニーカーのコトを − 今年の僕の個人的なお気に入りスニーカーを紹介させて頂こうと思います。過去12ヶ月も、素晴らしいコラボレーション、クラシックなシルエットへの回帰、知的なデザインの再構築がたくさん見られました。

Hi everyone, this is Kevin, founder of Hypebeast. I have been a huge fan of sneakers since I was young and it is sneakers that have allowed me to do what I am doing today. For my first post on Ring of Colour, I would like to share my favourite sneakers of the year. The past twelve months have been a year of great collaborations, revisiting classic silhouettes and reimagining intelligent designs.

Here we go.

1. Acronym x Nikelab Air Presto Mid “Olive” 

Acronymは、確かな美学と、デザインとコンセプトの間あるに知的な遊びを感じる僕のお気に入りブランドです。デザイナーErrolson Hughは、このアイコニックなNikeのPrestoシルエットを、彼らしいパフォーマンス性を重んじだ美しさとテクニカルエレメントを巧みに落とし込んだデザインで蘇らせました。もちろん履き心地の良さと実用性はそのままに。どちらのブランドのファンにとっても、この一足は手に入れる価値のある一足に違いないと思います。

Acronym has always been a favorite of mine due to its strong brands ethos and its intelligent play between design and concept. Errolson Hugh has once again masterfully applied his performance-driven aesthetic and technical elements to Nike’s iconic Presto silhouette, all while keeping comfort and wearability in mind. This pair is definitely a gem for diehard fans of both brands.

2. Nike Air Max 97 “Silver”

僕にとってシルバーのNike Air Max 97は、時を超えた最もアイコニックなスニーカーの一つです。この白とグレーのコンビネーションが加わったフューチャリスティックなビジュアルが、世界中からカルト的な人気を博しているクラシックアイテムなのも当然の事実でしょう。

To me, this Nike Air Max 97 in Silver is one of the most iconic sneakers of all-time. With its futuristic look and design paired with a white and grey colour combination, it’s no wonder this iteration has become a cult classic around the world.

3. adidas UltraBOOST “Triple White”

クリーンで整っていてシンプル。うるさく主張することなくその良さを提示している一足です。デザイン性を損なうことなく、この有名なBoostミッドソールがまるで空中を歩いているような軽さを実現しています。このUltraBOOST “Triple White” はまさにどんなシーンでも活躍してくれる僕のお気に入りです。

It’s clean, neat and simple, a model that speaks for itself without screaming for attention. With its signature Boost midsole, the pair provides a lightweight sensation as if you’re walking on air, all while maintaining an all-around great design. The UltraBOOST “Triple White” are definitely on its way to becoming one of my favourite pairs for any and all occasions.

4. Vans Old Skool, Black

70年代のスケートシーン美学のリバイバルがよく見られた今年、Vansのシグネチャーシルエットの復活を見過ごせるスニーカー好きがいたでしょうか？ アイコニックなホワイトのサイドテープを残しつつ、クラシックなブラックのOld Skoolはリュクスなレザー仕様で蘇りました。このオールドスクールにモダンなツイストが加えられたルックに合わせて、そろそろ僕も靴下をアンクルソックスからふくらはぎ下くらいのクルーソックスに履き替えようかなと思います。

This year saw the revival of the early ‘70s skate scene aesthetics, and who could miss out on Vans’ revamped designs on its signature silhouettes. Crafted in signature black, the Old Skool takes on a luxe leather exterior while the iconic sidestripe remains. I guess it’s time for me to revisit the classic look and add in a modern twist by upgrading my sock game from an ankle to crew look.

5. Nike Flyknit Racer

ブラックという色は、僕にとって確実にどう転んでも間違いのないカラーチョイスです。中でもNikeの Flyknit Racer “Midnight”カラーウェイは、Flyknit のアッパーからミッドソールまでが漆黒に染まったデザインで、初めてミッドソールが白以外のカラーで登場したモデルです。この驚くほど軽い履き心地と流れるようなデザインは、僕のランニングシューズの定番です。

Black has always been one of my go-to colors, a classic that can never do wrong. With Nike’s Flyknit Racer “Midnight” colorway, tonal black can be found covering everything from the Flyknit upper to its midsole, the first time the model has seen anything other than white. With its’ ultra-lightweight feel and streamlined design, these have become my go-to pair for running.
